Having spent most of his life in Hawaii, Ethan gained an appreciation for the natural beauty and amazing light of the Hawaiian Islands. It was the beauty of this natural world that inspired him to borrow his father's 36mm SLR camera.

Ethan's first formal training in photography was at Parker School here on the Big Island. At Parker, he took photography classes taught by former Honolulu Star-Bulletin Chief Photographer Warren Roll. While getting his degree at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Ethan further honed his photography skills as the school newspaper photographer. Most recently, Ethan attended the  Texas School of Photography with intese instruction from some of the best photography minds in the business.

Photography has also been in Ethan's family. His Great Grandfater A.T. Tweedie and Great Uncle Herbert Tweedie were both professional photographers and his Grandfather Harold Tweedie was an avid semi-professional photographer. Ethan can recall spending time in his grandfather's darkroom developing black and white photographs and now remarks, "I can still smell the chemical! Thank goodness for digital."

Ethan is a member of the Professional Photographers Association (PPA) and Real Estate Photographers of America and International (REPAI). His work has been featured in architectural publications, Real Estate Buyer's Guides, Hawaii Forest and Trail's webstie, W.M. Keck obsercatory Annual Report, National Parks of the Pacific website,, Hawaiian Lava Daily, KGMB, KHNL, KHON and the Weather Channel.
